I never used to be a coffee guy, but now it seems I can not start my day without a fresh cup of Joe. I liked the way the steam from the hot cup looked in the morning sunlight creeping through the clouds.

One of the buildings I work in has a warehouse in an old mill. The textures of the old wood beams always seem to catch my eye, so I figured they would make a good subject for this project.

One of my favorite not so healthy snacks has to be Goldfish. While I was munching on a bag of these awesome treats, I noticed the inside foil looked interesting and reflected the “fish” in an interesting way. I decided it would look even cooler with my flash under the gold fish, pointing towards my camera’s lens. I am overall pretty happy with the effect.

I made the investment in a large format professional photo printer on Sunday, so I just had to get that beast into a photo. Here she is printing out 4×6’s of some of my work. I can not wait for the 13×19 paper to arrive! I am slowly finding myself turning into a complete Canon fan boy, and I am ok with it.

One of the hardest parts about nightclub photography for me is capturing candid photos of people enjoying themselves, without them noticing me. I am shooting in a dark, smokey, night clubs – I have to use a bright flash, and I have to be very close to my subjects to produce a decent photo, which makes me very easy to spot. In addition to all that, most people do not have a very flattering facial expression when dancing their asses off. Sometimes there is this very small moment in between the “rage face” and the “posed face” where the person looks like they are in-between the two poses, something I like to call the “oh face”.  I’d like to think it makes for a timeless, organic, and emotional capture that can be looked back on as a reminder of the subjects younger days.

This is what some people do with their holiday – camp outside of retail stores to get good deals. I was going to get close, but I really didn’t want to be there on my holiday off, nor did I want to piss any of these people off. I was happier hanging out with family and friends instead.

I am starting to really like shooting low-key portraits like this one, and plan on doing more soon.

I love me some vegetarian sushi – Avocado and Sweet Potato rolls are my favorites. This was my first time trying to take a picture of food in a restaurant, it was hard to get a decent shot in low light without blasting my flash off everywhere.

I snapped a few shots of the sky on Monday when I was driving home from work in New Bedford, not expecting anything good, considering I was driving and not set up on a tripod. The sky looked so awesome that I was able to capture the colors and details while moving.

Sunday was my nephew William’s birthday party. This photo is from the exact moment everyone said his name during the Happy Birthday song. He can not say “Happy Birthday” but he can say “HAPPY DAY!”.

This is my favorite shot from a wedding I photographed on Saturday with Sam Henry. Olivia was an absolutely beautiful bride, her family and husband where wonderful to work with. I did not think I would be very good at shooting weddings and was not planning on expanding in to that field, but after the last 2 weddings I have shot, I now feel like I should do this more. There is wonderful feeling knowing you helped capture one of the most important days in most peoples lives. Thank you for the opportunity Olivia and Justin, I wish you two a lifetime of the greatest joy, love, and happiness. Congratulations!

Occasionally I like to indulge in some Oreo’s topped with Peanut Butter with a side of Vanilla almond milk. Why is this ALMOST vegan? Refined white sugar like the kind used in Oreo’s, is sometimes filtered through charred animal bones. It all depends on where the sugar came from. Unfortunately, it’s a 50/50 mix in the USA and manufacturers are not required to list the sources of their ingredients. One batch of Oreo’s could be Vegan, the next batch might not be. One of the advantages of going Vegetarian, is enjoying these bad boys every now and then.

I am not a huge fan of it being almost completely dark by 5pm, but I do enjoy the wonderful colors in the winter sky during sunset between 5-6pm. This was taken down by the Battleship in Fall River, MA. I took photos from 5-6pm from the same exact spot with varying settings to make sure I got the most colorful shot possible.

I spent most of Sunday editing photos from various projects, which left me little time for anything else. I miss the days of having time to play video games all day long without any interruptions other than dinner breaks. This Nintendo was my second gaming system, I believe I received this as a gift for my 4th birthday in 1987 from my Godparents. I can’t believe I still have it! My first system was an Atari hand-me-down that has since disappeared in to the dark hole under the stairs.

During the colder months, my friend Adam runs the coat room at the same club I photograph in. When I need to change batteries, memory cards, or just need a break from the madness, the coat room is always a safe haven with good company.

I was hurting for ideas and pressed for time and this is all I have for Friday, some matches.
