Day 194 of 365 – A Beautiful Bride

This is my favorite shot from a wedding I photographed on Saturday with Sam Henry. Olivia was an absolutely beautiful bride, her family and husband where wonderful to work with. I did not think I would be very good at shooting weddings and was not planning on expanding in to that field, but after the last 2 weddings I have shot, I now feel like I should do this more. There is wonderful feeling knowing you helped capture one of the most important days in most peoples lives. Thank you for the opportunity Olivia and Justin, I wish you two a lifetime of the greatest joy, love, and happiness. Congratulations!

Day 193 of 365 – John D

This is John D, he is a local DJ that mainly plays in the more Progressive House / Trance realm and does a fantastic job of doing it. John also has a great personality, something that I think is extremely important when getting in to the club DJ world. I had the pleasure of shooting at Northern Lights – Thanksgloving this Friday, so naturally I decided my 365 would be from the event. I expected to pick a gloving photo for my 365, but I just had to use this shot as I think it shows John’s fun personality well. You should check John’s mixes out here http://soundcloud.com/thejohnd

Day 192 of 365 – Almost Vegan Guilty Pleasure

Occasionally I like to indulge in some Oreo’s topped with Peanut Butter with a side of Vanilla almond milk. Why is this ALMOST vegan? Refined white sugar like the kind used in Oreo’s, is sometimes filtered through charred animal bones. It all depends on where the sugar came from. Unfortunately, it’s a 50/50 mix in the USA and manufacturers are not required to list the sources of their ingredients. One batch of Oreo’s could be Vegan, the next batch might not be. One of the advantages of going Vegetarian, is enjoying these bad boys every now and then.

Day 189 of 365 – Made in China

I had planned on taking a 365 photo that would be in honor of our Veterans on this Veterans Day, but missed the day light and memorials. By the time I was done shooting products for a client, the daylight was gone, and my options where limited. I looked around my mothers house for an American flag, but this is all I found – American flag tooth picks, made in China. It’s embarrassing that I don’t even have a real flag in my house, and plan on changing that this week. A big thank you to all of those who have served in the armed services to keep my family safe, and give me the freedom to take these photos as I please.

Day 188 of 365 – Nintendo

I spent most of Sunday editing photos from various projects, which left me little time for anything else. I miss the days of having time to play video games all day long without any interruptions other than dinner breaks. This Nintendo was my second gaming system, I believe I received this as a gift for my 4th birthday in 1987 from my Godparents. I can’t believe I still have it! My first system was an Atari hand-me-down that has since disappeared in to the dark hole under the stairs.

Day 184 of 365 – First Snow

I do not think anyone was expecting snow today, it seemed to come out of no where. I was trading photography editing techniques with a friend and fellow photographer, Elijah Vicente, when the snow hit. I have been wanting to try a shot like this for a while, once I saw how fast and hard the snow was falling, I just had to give it a shot.  I had Elijah hold my flash behind his back while looking at the camera. At full power, the flash lit up the snow around him, leaving me with a snow silhouette.

Day 183 of 365 – Cracks

Tuesday was election day, I had planned on getting one of those I voted stickers and using it in my 365. Unfortunately, neither my mother, my friends, or myself actually got one of those stickers when voting in Fall River. I ran around the house snapping photos of random objects and this was my favorite shot. I put my flash behind a door with slits in it, then took the photo from the front of the door. I really liked the shadows, gradients, and lighting.
