Day 80 of 365 – Unicorn Cupcakes

I was asked to fill in at Local 121 on Thursday night as the DJ. It was a really super awesome fun ass time, but it sure got hot in there. Anyway, when I made the flyer for the event, I put cupcakes and unicorns on the flyer so I decided to call this photo Unicorn Cupcakes. Here is a quit snap shot I took while DJing. I don’t think I will be trying the whole DJ and take photos thing again unless I am DJing with someone else.

Day 78 – Justly Famous Since 1910

This is Almac’s diner, it has been a Fall River, MA icon since 1910 and has been closed down as of Monday. I regret not doing this photo shoot when it was in business and all the neon lights where operational, I had no idea it was closing until it was already closed. More info on the place and it’s closing over at The Herald News.

This was a HDR multi-row panorama. I wanted to make a HUGE high quality image for large printing, and may go back and do it again at night with some manual light painting where the neon lights would have been.

Day 74 of 365 – A Mid-Summer Night’s Rave

I was asked to help shoot a large event / rave by Dave Yang on Friday out in Western, Massachusetts. What an amazing night this was, I am really excited to get the time to edit all the photos. This was one of the first photos of the evening taken over near the electric forest stage. They had a massive sound system with amazing lighting in the middle of the woods. It was like hiking on a perfect night in to a freaking rave.

Great people, great music, great vibes all around. I hope my final photo set does this event justice. Thank you to Dave Yang for booking me and to Jon-Luke West for putting this kick-ass event together.
You can read up on the event and the crews that put it on here: http://www.facebook.com/events/305561629512132/

Day 71 of 365 – Color Rays

I am not even sure what to call that effect you see in the sky, a ray cast by the sun? Shadows from the cooling towers? I do know the sky looked too freaking cool not to try and photograph. Those damn cooling towers are showing up in too many of these 365’s, I need some new scenery! No HDR’ing or anything this time, just a straight shot of the sky.

Day 70 of 365 – Christmas in July

I was commissioned by a friend to photograph some new products for his store and was tied up working on his project after I left work, so I didn’t have much time to put in to a 365 photo. I did have to get really creative with the lighting to get the look I was aiming for, so I figured it would make a decent 365 addition. The ornaments where hung 2-3 feet in front of a lit up Christmas tree, then the ornaments where lit up from each side with 2 off camera strobes. There where also 2 incandescent lights, one below the ornaments and one shining on the tree to brighten up the deep tones a bit. Overall I am pretty pleased with the results from the first few products in this project.

Day 69 of 365 – Weekends

When I am not out trying to be the next Ansel Adams, I pay the bills by taking photos of beautiful women and unbelievably drunk people at night clubs. Sometimes people ask to take a photo with me, for what reason I really do not know. Instead of flipping the camera around, I direct everyone to the glass mirror to take a photo with me. This is one of those photos taken with my lovely friend Casey.

Day 68 of 365 – Reverse Windmill

I had to shoot DGAF on Saturday so I took a few random shots around the house before the gig just to make sure I had something for my 365. I expected to just use a DGAF photo but I did not take any I wanted to use as a 365 until after midnight. This really boring reverse-free lens shot of a windmill is gonna have to do for Saturday. I just gotta keep telling myself they can’t all be decent!

Day 66 of 365 – Moonlight

While I was driving home from Providence, RI after taking my day 65 photo, I notice the moon looked super close and an interesting color. I went over to an open parking lot in Fall River, MA around 1am and snapped a few shots. This was taken with my 300mm, 2 photos, one exposed for the moon and one exposed for the sky, merged in photoshop. I loved how the moon caused an interesting lens flare on the long exposure shot.

Day 64 of 365 – Ouch

So while I was out taking photos of my friend Jay, he almost got hit by a car. This was better than anything else we did that night.

No, but seriously, this was all planned. It 2 photos combined together in photoshop to make it look like he was in the process of getting hit by a car. I think I could have made this better was having Jay pose differently, the way it looks now is a bit planned – his foot placement gives it away. Some movement around his legs or arms would have made it look like he was running out of the way as well. I did have fun with this shoot and most importantly learned something new. Thanks Jay!

Day 62 of 365 – Valuable Gear

My right hand could quite possibly be my most important piece of gear. I found a photo of an xray and tried my best to position my hand exactly like the photo then take a photo of my hand in that position. I then put the two images together in Photoshop to make this weird bionic hand look. This hand has been putting in some serious editing work today, this image is a tribute to you hand!
