This was my first attempt at photographing smoke. I took about 600 photos in all, this was one of the more interesting ones. I may post up some of the other shots on the blog.

Day 184 of 365 – First Snow
I do not think anyone was expecting snow today, it seemed to come out of no where. I was trading photography editing techniques with a friend and fellow photographer, Elijah Vicente, when the snow hit. I have been wanting to try a shot like this for a while, once I saw how fast and hard the snow was falling, I just had to give it a shot. I had Elijah hold my flash behind his back while looking at the camera. At full power, the flash lit up the snow around him, leaving me with a snow silhouette.
Day 183 of 365 – Cracks
Tuesday was election day, I had planned on getting one of those I voted stickers and using it in my 365. Unfortunately, neither my mother, my friends, or myself actually got one of those stickers when voting in Fall River. I ran around the house snapping photos of random objects and this was my favorite shot. I put my flash behind a door with slits in it, then took the photo from the front of the door. I really liked the shadows, gradients, and lighting.
Day 182 of 365 – Local 121
One of my favorite places to DJ, drink, and eat, is at Local 121 in Providence, RI. I had a Google Maps Street View shoot with them on Monday, and this is one of the still photos taken with the tour. Check out the tour here: http://goo.gl/BVfWP
Day 181 of 365 – Vinyl
Day 180 of 365 – Zombies
I had the pleasure of photographing NextHype’s DGAF – The Raving Dead Zombie Party in Providence, RI this weekend and this was my favorite shot of the night. Marielle did a fantastic job with her make up, so it would have been a shame not to put this in the project. The full photo set should be up by tomorrow.
Day 179 of 365 – Socks
Day 178 of 365 – Movember
Once a year for the past 4 years I have participated in Movember. Movember is a world wide campaign focused on raising awareness and funds for men’s prostate cancer awareness and research. On November 1st, participants shave their faces clean, then begin growing amazing mustaches for the cause. This is my clean shaven face in a classy outfit, I miss the beard, but growing a mustache for one month out of each year is a small price to pay when helping such a great cause. Please join our Movember team or consider giving a donation, big or small at www.providencestache.com
Day 177 of 365 – Trick or Treat
Day 176 of 365 – A Sweet Transvestite from Transexual Transylvania
Day 175 of 365 – Hurricane Sandy
Day 174 of 365 – The end is near
Day 173 of 365 – Light Shows
Saturday’s 365 is usually my favorite shot from DGAF, and this Saturday is no exception. One of my favorite things about shooting glovers, is that it’s never the same lighting environment. There is no magic camera setting that gives me a good shot, I have to play with every combination of settings to get a shot I think works. I really liked the combination of the costume and the trail length in this one. The person giving the light show is Shane McKenzie of Northern Lights.
Day 172 of 365 – The Royal Tenenbaums
Day 171 of 365 – Clear Skies
For Thursday’s 365 I had planned on getting a photo while DJing at Local 121, but had a feeling it was going to be a slow night. Luckily on late Wednesday evening around 1am, I took a few quick shots of the sky before going to bed. The clouds had just passed over, and even though the moon was really bright and I am in a city, I could still see a nice amount of stars in the sky. I think my new fallback when I am lacking 365 ideas will be of the stars.
Day 170 of 365 – Seekonk River Bridge
I spent my day taking photos for Google Maps, then brought my friend Elijah who is also a photographer over to the Seekonk River Bridge in Providence, RI. After taking and editing photos all day, my creative inspiration was very low. I should have tried so many more angles and techniques, but alas, this is what I got. At least the clouds where all sorts of funky.
Day 169 of 365 – Books
Day 168 of 365 – Fixing the internet
My router decided to act up today. While resetting it, I noticed the blue lights could make for some awesome Bokeh. I haven’t used my 50mm 1.8 in a while, so I figured I would pull it out to get some nice big bokeh balls. Then I had to think about what to do in the foreground, considering I was trying to “fix the internet” I figured a wrench was in order.
Day 167 of 365 – Orionid Sky
I tried my best to capture some meteors from the Orionid meteor shower, but of course I did not get any in my images. I did get some awesome photos of the stars, and I did actually see some of the meteors with my own eyes, so over all it was not a failed mission. I am posting two photos here, the star trails photo is my 365. The stationary star photo is another image I loved that I had to post as well.
Day 166 of 365 – Blue
During Saturday’s sunset, the sky was an amazing blue with some purple / orange-ish clouds in the mix. The moon was also looking pretty bright, so I tried to frame a shot with some interesting cloud formations and the moon. While scanning the sky, a plane seemed to appear as if out of no where. I think the streaks from the plane, the moon, and the clouds all came together at that short moment to make an interesting photo.
