Nothing used to spook me more than being asked to open the bulk head doors to my mothers basement. Opening the door to that dark stairway, usually covered in cobwebs and spiders, would instantly make the hair on the back of my neck rise. No matter what I did, I would always feel like a spider was on my body. I would run in, unlock the door, then get the heck out of there as fast as possible. Now things are a bit different, there is a light in that little tunnel, and I have since cleaned it up so there are minimal webs and spiders.

Day 237 of 365 – Snow on Trees
Day 236 of 365 – Side Dish
I gave this recipe for Skillet Black Beans with Potatoes and Tortillas I found over at Veg Kitchen a shot on Saturday night. Since it was dinner time there was no natural light, I also did not want to get the umbrellas out for a photoshoot of my food before enjoying it with a friend. I bounced my flash off the ceiling and thought I got a decent shot, but it turned out to be very soft. Luckily I took some photos of the salad we had before the main dish.
Day 235 of 365 – Moon on Fire
When I left work on Friday evening, the moon was low, big, and shining with a bright yellowish orange color tone. It looked like it was on fire. I really wanted to get an awesome “big moon” shot but I did not have my long range lens or an interesting foreground to work with. I did not even have my tripod on me! I drove towards the moon and hoped for the best. I ended up on one of the finishing docks in New Bedford, MA. I used one of the wooden barriers as a tripod and this was the result.
This is a multi-image composition composed of 5 different exposures and 1 image isolated on the moon.
Day 234 of 365 – Batteries

Day 232 of 365 – What holidays are all about
This little guy sure made my Christmas pretty awesome.
I have been a Grinch the last few Christmas’s, the whole season went from being a magical time with family and friends, to a hectic disaster every year. With William around, everything has changed. I now look forward to the season so I can hang out with him and the choo choo trains under the tree while watching his amazement at all the people and lights the holiday brings about.
I can never seem to get a nice sharp shot of Will in doors, the little guy just loves to move around… a lot. Much respect for the photographers who make a living photographing children.
Day 231 of 365 – colormunki
I spent most of my Christmas Eve printing, framing, and wrapping Christmas gifts. This was my Christmas present to myself – an X-Rite colormunki. This little ball of awesome is a monitor calibration device. It makes sure all my monitors are calibrated to their peak color reproduction performance. Now all my images look consistent across multiple display and print environments. Now what I see on the screen, is exactly what prints on paper. After you calibrate your monitor, the calibrator stays connected to your computer and measures ambient light in your room and changes the display settings automatically depending on your lighting environment.
I really have no idea why I let myself go so long without buying one of these, I highly recommend any monitor calibration system to all digital photographers.
Day 230 of 365 – Fundraisers
On Sunday I was kicking it with Dan Riti when he started going through the raffle tickets from the date auction at DGAF. Dan suggested it would be a good idea to use the tickets as a 365 photo and I am glad he did. Every single person who bought 1 ticket, or 40 tickets, helped to make a local families Christmas that much better.
Day 229 of 365 – D.G.A.F.
I was not expecting this Saturday to be my last time shooting DGAF, but I guess that’s the way things go sometimes. I have had a blast taking photos of you all for the past 2 years. So many great memories and great friends have been made that it’s hard to remember them all. I might not be shooting DGAF any longer, but I am not leaving the scene any time soon. I will catch all of you again I am sure, until then I will miss you.
The following image is composed of almost all the photos I have taken at DGAF over the years. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped make each and every one of these 4000+ memories.
Day 228 of 365 – More Holiday Bokeh
Day 227 of 365 – Mail
Day 226 of 365 – Gingerbread House
Day 225 of 365 – Business Cards
I received my new business cards from Moo.com on Tuesday and was so happy with the quality of the cards I decided to make them my 365. These where from Moo’s Luxe series of cards. They are printed on 32pt paper which is composed of 4 sheets of paper compressed together. White paper on the outside, 2 colors on the inside. They are not cheap, but are well worth the investment.
I tried out a technique known as “focus-stacking” with this shot and was relatively happy with the results. You basically take 4-5 photos of the same subject at different focus points then blend the images together in post production. If I would have edited this photo on the day that I took it, I would have gone back and re-shot it to get even better results.
Day 224 of 365 – Crappy photo, memorable experience
I spent all day Monday driving around Mass and CT with my boss in this beast of a 26 Foot Truck. I have never driven anything this big before, why not make the first time for a few hundred miles in light snow? The photo sucks and it was taken with my iPhone, but I am ok with it as this was an experience I won’t soon forget. New found respect for people who drive Freightliners on a daily basis!

Day 222 of 365 – Tight Crew’s Nightmare before Christmas 4
I had the pleasure of shooting Tight Crew‘s Nightmare Before Christmas for at Fete in Providence, RI on Saturday night. Tight Crew is composed of some of the most genuine, hard working people in the EDM / Rave scene and it shows at each and every one of their events. I just had to make an epic picture to show the epicness of the evening so I figured a little planet would do the trick.
Here is the best part:

Day 221 of 365 – Japanese Maple
The colors on the sky during sunset where amazing on Friday, I just had to get them in a shot. I was home and didn’t want to travel far to get a shot because the light was quickly disappearing. I decided to make the Japanese maple tree the focus of the photo with the great sky colors in the background.
